The role
We are a fast-growing company looking for an effective systems engineer to help us expand our IT infrastructure. The systems engineer's responsibilities include working with a team of IT specialists to design, implement and maintain a computer network, including hardware, software and system architecture.
To succeed in this role, the systems engineer must be a highly motivated, results-oriented person, able to create the ideal solution to meet the higher-level needs of Open Vista and its clients. The best candidate will also be an excellent listener and communicator, able to explain why their solutions are best suited to our company.
Systems Engineer Responsibilities
Network and IT infrastructure
Oversee the development and installation of new network and IT infrastructures.
Solution selection
Select the best possible solutions, drawing on knowledge of a wide range of available technologies.
Network monitoring
Monitor existing network systems to prevent any loss of productivity.
Installation and configuration
Install and configure operating systems and application software.
Security and backup
Implement best practices for system security and data backup.
Anticipating problems
Anticipate potential problems or bottlenecks and identify possible solutions.
Diagnosis and resolution
Diagnose and resolve all technical issues as they arise.
Coordination with support
Communicate effectively with IT support staff to ensure the implementation process runs smoothly.
Supplier relations
Liaise with suppliers and keep relevant stakeholders informed of developments.
Systems Engineer Requirements
- ✔ A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or a related field (a master's degree is preferred).
- ✔ Proven experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting UNIX and Linux systems.
- ✔ Experience writing scripts (e.g. with Perl, Ruby, Python) and configuring software for automation.
- ✔ Exceptional knowledge of network technologies (OSI network layers, TCP/IP).
- ✔ Good knowledge of system administration, performance optimization and monitoring.
- ✔ Good communication skills (written, verbal and face-to-face).
- ✔ An understanding of Odoo ERP implementation.
