KVM VPS Hosting for Australian Businesses — With the Latency Numbers Up Front

Self-managed KVM servers on NVMe SSD from $9.99/month, about A$13.83 at indicative rates. We have no Australian datacentre, so read the latency section before you order.

The honest position on latency in Australia

OpenVista operates in Rabat, Morocco and New York, USA. Neither is near Australia, and we will not publish a "Sydney VPS" page pretending otherwise — Australian buyers have been trained, correctly, to interrogate exactly that claim. Here is what our locations actually measure.

DatacentreRound trip from SydneyRound trip from Perth
New York, USAAbout 195–220 ms (measured from US East)About 230–260 ms
Rabat, MoroccoAbout 280–320 ms (geographic estimate)About 290–330 ms

An Australian datacentre delivers 8–15 ms, and a CDN does not close that gap: it accelerates cached assets, while every uncached request still travels to the origin. If your users are in Australia and the workload is interactive, buy locally. What follows is the work where location is not the deciding factor.

What we are genuinely good for in Australia

Infrastructure outside Australian jurisdiction

A server in Rabat is not subject to Australian legal reach and not in a Five Eyes jurisdiction, which is a real requirement for some buyers. We publish our acceptable use policy and we do not host proxies, VPN resale, IPTV or mass mailing.

Workloads whose users are not in Australia

Global SaaS with a North American or European audience, batch processing, backup targets, mail relays, monitoring nodes and staging environments do not care that the server is 200 ms from Sydney.

Project work delivered asynchronously

Our digital services line covers Odoo ERP implementation, technical SEO audits, Core Web Vitals work and cloud migration. These are fixed-scope deliverables, so a nine-hour offset does not break them the way it breaks a helpdesk promise.

Five plans, in dollars and in indicative Australian dollars

Every plan is full KVM virtualisation with dedicated vCPU and RAM, NVMe SSD storage, a dedicated IPv4 address, DDoS protection, a 99.9% SLA, root SSH across 15+ Linux distributions, and automated deployment in minutes. Billing is monthly in US dollars with no minimum term. Australian dollar figures are indicative, at roughly A$1.38 to the dollar and excluding GST.

VPS-1G — $9.99/mo

1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, 30 GB NVMe. About A$13.83. DNS, monitoring, a single small service.

VPS-2G — $19.99/mo

1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM, 40 GB NVMe. About A$27.67. Small sites, internal tools, staging.

VPS-3G — $34.99/mo

2 vCPU, 3 GB RAM, 50 GB NVMe. About A$41.51. Containers, queues, cron-heavy jobs.

VPS-4G — $39.99/mo

2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 80 GB NVMe. About A$55.35. Odoo ERP, PostgreSQL, analytics workloads.

VPS-5G — $49.99/mo

3 vCPU, 5 GB RAM, 100 GB NVMe. About A$69.19. Build runners, CI, larger datasets.

Fair warning on price

Australian entry pricing is aggressive. Buy us for a reason other than price per gigabyte.

GST, invoicing and the ACL

We invoice in US dollars, monthly, with no setup fee and no lock-in. Prices on this page are shown excluding GST; Australian dollar figures are conversions, and your bank applies the final rate.

  • GST. Non-resident suppliers of digital services to Australian consumers register once turnover reaches A$75,000. Where a sale is made to a business quoting an ABN, the usual treatment is reverse charge. Confirm your position with your accountant.
  • Consumer guarantees. Nothing in our terms or in this page attempts to exclude the guarantees in the Australian Consumer Law.
  • Payment. Major cards and international bank transfer. We do not support BPAY or Australian Direct Debit.
  • Support hours. Our team works Rabat hours, which is the Australian evening and night. A 9am Sydney incident reaches us at 11pm Rabat. We answer 24/7, but we are not an Australian helpdesk and will not pretend to be one.

Privacy: what APP 8 means for a server overseas

If you put personal information on infrastructure outside Australia, Australian Privacy Principle 8 makes you accountable for what the overseas recipient does with it. Two of our locations behave differently, and the difference matters.

  • New York. Data held in the United States can be reached by US legal process, including extraterritorial statutes. If your concern is precisely that, choose Rabat instead.
  • Rabat. Morocco is not an Australian adequacy jurisdiction either, so an APP 8 assessment is still required — but the exposure is Moroccan law, not US law, and not Australian law.
  • What we provide. A data processing agreement and contractual clauses restricting purpose and onward disclosure, which is the route APP 8.14 recognises, plus encryption you control.

We would rather explain this before you sign than after your legal team discovers it. If data must remain on Australian soil, we will say plainly that we cannot host it there and will run the project on your infrastructure instead.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have a datacentre in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane?

No. Rabat and New York only. Any provider claiming Australian hosting without an Australian facility is a risk to your project, and that includes anyone imitating the claim on our behalf.

Is 200 ms actually unusable?

For interactive Australian users, yes, compared with 10 ms. For batch jobs, backups, CI runners, mail, internal tooling and audiences outside Australia, it is usually irrelevant. Choose by workload rather than by slogan.

Can you take support calls at 9am AEST?

Not live. Our business day does not overlap yours. Support is 24/7 by ticket and email, and we schedule project calls in your morning where a project has scheduled calls at all.

Will you host our Odoo or ERP project?

Yes, and it is the work that suits this market best: implementation, migration from Xero or MYOB and customisation, delivered against a written scope, hosted here or on your own infrastructure.

What is not allowed on your network?

Open proxies, VPN and proxy resale, streaming and IPTV redistribution, mass mailing, and anything that generates abuse complaints. Our acceptable use policy is enforced and servers that breach it are suspended.

How do I get an invoice for my Australian entity?

Invoices are issued monthly in US dollars in your company name. Ask our contact team to add your ABN so your bookkeeper has what they need.

Or let us quote the project instead of the server

Odoo implementation, technical SEO audits and cloud migration, scoped in writing, delivered across the time difference without excuses. Infrastructure from $9.99/month when the workload suits it.
