The system administrator's responsibilities include troubleshooting hardware, software and network issues, and ensuring that all IT operations run with optimal performance and security.
To succeed as a system administrator, you must have an excellent ability to solve problems through your in-depth understanding of information systems and IT solutions. The best system administrator will also be a team player, ready to handle all support requests with courtesy and professionalism.
System Administrator Responsibilities
Configuration and maintenance
Configure and maintain the networked IT system, including hardware, system software and applications.
Data security and backup
Ensure data is stored securely and backed up regularly.
Diagnosis and troubleshooting
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network and system issues as they arise.
Upgrades
Replace and upgrade faulty or outdated components as needed.
Performance monitoring
Monitor system performance to ensure smooth and secure operation.
Continuous improvement
Research and recommend new approaches to improve the networked IT system.
Technical support
Provide technical support on request.
Process documentation
Document all processes employees must follow to work efficiently within our IT system.
System Administrator Requirements
- ✔ Degree or relevant training in information systems or information technology.
- ✔ Microsoft MCSE certification or equivalent.
- ✔ Prior experience administering server-side technologies and networked IT systems.
- ✔ Knowledge of SQL and database operations.
- ✔ Ability to prioritize a wide range of workloads with critical deadlines.
- ✔ Availability outside working hours to resolve urgent issues quickly.
- ✔ Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- ✔ A patient, professional attitude with a positive, willing mindset.
- ✔ Understanding of Odoo ERP implementation.
